Hector Barbossa (2013)

Hector Barbossa from Pirates of the Caribbean was my first fully rendered digital illustration, created for the Moviefest 2013 challenge.
.
To my surprise, my artwork was even selected for the event banners! ✨
.
It felt like a huge achievement at the time — especially for someone who had only just discovered this incredible world of digital art. Looking back, it was a small victory, but one that gave me confidence and inspired me to keep learning and growing as an artist.
.
I remember talking with a friend one day about the art exhibitions I had participated in alongside traditional artists.
- "It's a shame we don't have anything like that in CG."
- "What do you mean we don't? Take a look at this!"
He sent me a link to ArtStation and showed me the Moviefest 2013 challenge. I was absolutely fascinated.
What amazed me most was that it wasn't just about showcasing finished artwork. Artists were sharing their process, discussing ideas, giving feedback, and following each other's progress while creating illustrations and character concepts.
For someone just discovering the character design community, it felt like opening a door to a whole new world.
